Diamond Cut Wedding Bands
Choosing the right cut of diamond for your wedding band!

Wedding bands are a centuries old symbol of love and devotion that come in many different styles to accommodate the different shapes and cuts of stones. Wedding bands encompass many different kinds of stone cuts and often the settings necessary to accommodate the wedding band’s stone. The shapes and styles of wedding bands can often tell the buyer what type and size of stone the wedding band is meant for.
Princess cut wedding bands are those that accommodate a diamond or other stone cut in a square shape. The stone of a princess cut band is flat at the top with steps cut into the side for the band setting. The princess cut also has a few facets added to create more sparkle, giving the stone about 50 facets total. The princess cut wedding band is much like a hybrid between the classic round cut band and an emerald cut band. This band is generally set with corner prongs to keep the stone’s corners from getting chipped due to their angular shape.

Emerald cut wedding bands are made to accommodate a rectangular stone. The emerald cut band securely holds a stone with corners that are slightly cropped. Many emerald cut bands also accommodate accent stones that sit alongside the larger emerald cut stone. The emerald cut band is often set with four prongs to protect the corners and to provide a stable setting for the stone’s shape. The emerald cut wedding band is thought by many to be one of the most sophisticated and classic shapes available in wedding bands.

Radiant cut wedding bands were created as a blend of the emerald cut and the round cut.
The radiant cut band is used to maximize the sparkle of a stone and to make the sparkle uniform across the whole stone. The radiant cut band uses more of the stone on the surface than many other cuts, to show off the full size and sparkle of the stone.

Round cut diamond bands, also called brilliant cut diamond bands, are the most popular choice in wedding bands. The round cut stone can be 57 or 58 facets, and the number of prongs on the wedding band can vary. This type of band shows off a stone to its best advantage, with its sparkle and fire immediately evident. This shape of cut and setting also provides a sturdy mount for a stone that holds it securely and protects it from damage.
