The radiant cut is a rectangular cut with cropped corners and a many faceted top. (...)

The radiant cut is a rectangular cut with cropped corners and a many faceted top. Radiant cut wedding bands feature a stone that looks much like a princess cut stone, though the radiant cut is generally more rectangular in shape. The cut is a combination of the rectangular emerald cut and the faceting of the brilliant cut. The sides of the stone in a radiant cut wedding band are cut with steps; much like emerald and princess cut stones. The steps are cut into triangular facets that resemble the trillion cut stone. The combination of all of these influences means that the power to increase the fire and radiance of each of those stones are used to create the bright, sparkling stone on a radiant cut band.

The radiant cut was invented by Henry Grossbard in 1977. After three decades of work, Grossbard created the cut he set out to invent after observing the best qualities of several different types of cuts. The radiant cut wedding band made angular stone cuts popular again, after having fallen out of favor with the advent of the round cut. The radiant cut band is now a sought after cut for its combination of sparkle and fire. The multicolored fire emanating from the radiant cut wedding band is enhanced by the cut along the sides of the top. But on the radiant cut band, the fire is accompanied by a brilliant sparkle that has made the radiant cut band popular.

The shape of the radiant cut stone lends itself to many types of settings on a radiant cut wedding band. The rectangular shape means that it can be set with either prongs at the corners, or with a channel setting. The prong setting on a radiant cut band are set in the corners because the cropped corners of the stone can be damaged without protection. The channel setting holds the stone in place along the edges. The channel setting is popular for radiant cut wedding bands because many stones can be lined up together to create a glittering band. Radiant cut bands may also have two or more stones on either side of the radiant cut stone. Triangular trillion cut stones make attractive accent stones, as do smaller versions of the larger radiant cut set in the middle of the band. Some people pair a radiant cut stone with smaller princess cut stones, which are similar in shape but give some variety to the radiant cut band.

The princess cut wedding band is one of the newer wedding band cuts, blending the best traits of other cuts to create a stunning new cut. The square shape, similar to the rectangular shape that shows off the emerald cut stone, combined with the many facets that bring out the sparkle of the round cut stone, together make the stone on a princess cut wedding band. A princess cut band houses a square stone that is usually held with four prongs in each of the stone’s corners to protect the corners from being chipped

There are other settings that may be chosen on the princess cut wedding band, however, such as those that don’t require prongs at all. The channel setting has channels that are set over the edges of the stone, housing the stone in the princess cut band instead of above it. With this arrangement, the square shape of the stones mean that many can be set together without gaps. This creates a line of shimmering square stones that is popular for both men’s and women’s princess cut wedding bands. Another way to set a stone on a princess cut band is to set the stone at an angle, so that it makes a diamond-shaped setting rather than a square shape.

The princess cut band was based largely on the Barion cut, begun around 30 years ago. The Barion cut was a very similar cut used most often on square stones. However, its use was restricted until very recently by patents on the specific cut. The cut is now used more freely as the princess cut, though there are slight variations in the cut that are still considered to be princess cuts.

Stones that end up in princess cut wedding bands are usually ones that start out deep in shape. Deep stones make the best princess cut stones, and look the best in princess cut bands. The cut then makes these stones more brilliant by making any flaws in the stone less visible. In addition to clarity, the cut and depth of stones in a princess cut wedding band makes diamonds with a brownish or yellowish color look clearer. This means that less expensive stones can be made to look much like top quality stones by being fashioned into a princess cut wedding band. This has greatly added to the popularity of the princes cut band in recent years, as more stone can be bought for the same price and still result in a high-quality look to the stone in a princess cut band.

The emerald cut is one of the oldest of the many wedding band cuts. A ring set with an emerald cut stone must accommodate a long, rectangular gem that is cut with its corners cropped slightly. An emerald cut wedding band is one that holds the stone securely, thanks to the steps cut into the side of an emerald cut stone. The steps fit with the emerald cut band to keep the stone from any harm, such as damage at its corners. The stone can be set on a ring perpendicular to the band, or it can be set in the more unusual parallel setting.

The long, slender design of the emerald cut isn’t as popular as the round cut, but this shape remains popular with those seeking an extra bit of elegance. The emerald cut wedding band is a sophisticated look popular with those who have very large stones for their bands. The cut is different enough from the normal round cut that it is sure to be noticed, but it is still a very classic style of cut. The emerald cut wedding band is especially prized with those who have long, thin fingers that will set off the band perfectly.

The emerald cut, as its name suggests, was originally developed to best display an emerald. The cut was soon found to be flattering to the diamond and to many other stones as well. The emerald cut band is cut with steps to bring a little of the natural fire in the stone to be reflected along the long, flat top of the stone. The emerald cut wedding band doesn’t sparkle the way that a round cut band does, but the sparkles that the cut unleashes are quite noticeable along the top of the stone. The flat top of the stone enhances the clarity, which makes the fire more pronounced.

The setting on an emerald cut band is often made to accommodate two or more stones that sit on either side of the center stone. The long shape of the emerald cut lends itself perfectly to be accented by smaller stones. Some prefer an emerald cut band with several stones on each side of the larger stone. These smaller stones can be small diamond accents of any shape, or they can be birthstones or other beautiful stones that will round out the look of the emerald cut wedding band.

The round cut is also called the brilliant cut or the round brilliant cut. It may also be referred to as the American Standard Cut because it is the most popular wedding band cut sold in the U.S. (...)

The round cut is also called the brilliant cut or the round brilliant cut. It may also be referred to as the American Standard Cut because it is the most popular wedding band cut sold in the U.S. The round cut wedding band houses the round cut stone cut that can have either 57 or 58 facets. The shape of the stone in a round cut band is to enhance the natural brilliance of gemstones by using the facets to reflect light toward the top of the stone. The fire evident from a stone in a round cut wedding band is the reason the band cut is popular enough to make it the cut that is purchased more than 75 percent of the time.

The round cut began during the mid 17th century with a cut made up of 17 facets concentrated on the top half of the stone. The number of facets was eventually changed to 33 by a Venetian gem polisher. These round cuts were a brilliant cut for the time, but in no way match the brilliance of the current round cut. The development of better lathes and saws around 1900 made it possible to create much more precise cuts, leading to the modern version of the round cut. The modern version is based on geometric calculations as to which specific arrangement of facets will bring out the best sparkle in the stone. The round cut wedding band shows off stones to their best advantage, mainly revealing the top of the cut stone to use its size to an advantage.

The round cut wedding band is the way to get the most brilliance and fire out of a stone by balancing both the colored fire and the white. The round cut began as a modified version of the emerald cut. This made it possible to combine the brilliance of the emerald cut with the impact of the top-heavy round shape. The round cut band showcases the best of both worlds, housing a stone that takes full advantage of its size and weight while keeping the fire shining brightly. The round shape of the round cut is also a way to highlight the idea behind the round wedding band- a circle that never ends. The circle shape is a traditional symbol of something that lasts forever, just as the diamond is a symbol of something that can not be broken. Both of these factors make the round cut wedding band a powerful symbol of never-ending love.
